Love Letter Wine Box Ceremonies

Love Letter & Wine Box Ceremony-Option 1

_________and ________, now we will create your Love Letter Wine Box. This box contains a bottle of wine and two glasses. (If you choose a wine that is from the year that you first met, the year you started dating, the year of your engagement or that has some special meaning it could be mentioned here)

_________and ________, you have each written a letter to the other, sharing your expression of love, the reasons you choose to marry and your hopes and dreams for the future. Only the author knows what is contained on these pages. _________and ________ place your letters into the box.

When you return home, choose a place of honor for this commemorative box. It will serve as a daily visual reminder of your love & commitment and this day, the day you were married.

This box will remain sealed for ------ (one-five or ten-you decide how many) year(s). You will open it on your __________st/th wedding anniversary. Then you will share the wine, read each other's letters and reminisce about  your courtship, wedding day, and the ---------- year(s) you have shared as husband and wife.

I encourage you to reflect where you are in your marriage and how you are doing as marriage partners.  Express gratitude for the ways you have effectively loved and supported one another and forgive yourselves and each other for any times you were less than perfect.  Take those experiences as learning opportunities to change and grow.

(Optional ending)

The box may be opened sooner, if need be.  Should you come across a rough patch in the marriage when you may not be seeing eye-to-eye, you shall uncork the wine and unseal the letters you wrote for one another. The sentiments you wrote, the declaration of love, the clear thoughts about why you chose this person as your life partner will help put you back on even ground. This is the perfect ritual to remind you of your wedding day and your intention to love and cherish each other in good times and bad for as long as you both shall live.

_________and ________, we all hope you never have reason to open the before your 5th (or 10th) anniversary. Remember it was love that brought you here today, it is only love which can make it a glorious union, and it is by love which your marriage shall endure. You may now seal the box.

Love Letter & Wine Box Ceremony-Option 2

_________and ________, today you have both committed to share the rest of your lives with each other. We have witnessed your giving and receiving of rings and the exchange of your vows.

Now we will observe you create a lasting vestige of these promises. You have chosen to perform the Love Letter & Wine box ceremony. Friends and family, _________and ________ have each written a love letter to each other. In this letter they have written of their love, the reasons they each have for wanting to marry one another, and their hopes and dreams for the future.  No one has read these letters. Only the author knows what is contained on these pages.

In their home they will choose a place of honor for this commemorative box to serve as a daily visual reminder of their love & commitment and this day, the day they were wed.

In many cultures sharing wine is part of a marriage ceremony, embracing traditions that began well before the medieval period.

Then, a bride and groom would celebrate their pledge to each other by drinking wine from a single cup — one blood, one family and one kin. The wine included in this ceremony is symbolic of your joining together .(Optional: use a wine that is from the year that you first met or the year you started dating).

This box will remain sealed for five (or ten,or any other) years. _________and ________ will open it on their 5th (or 10th  etc ) wedding anniversary. Then they will share the wine, read each other's letters and reminisce about their courtship, wedding day, and the five (or ten) years they have shared as husband and wife.

(Optional ending)

The box may be opened sooner, if need be.  Should you come across a rough patch in the marriage when you may not be seeing eye-to-eye, you shall uncork the wine and unseal the letters you wrote for one another. This will remind you of all the reasons you fell in love, the reasons you chose this person as your partner, and all the things that helped shape the life you've created together.

The sentiments you wrote, the declaration of love, the clear thoughts about why you chose this person as your life partner will help put you back on even ground. This is the perfect ritual to remind you of your wedding day and your intention to love and cherish each other in good times and bad for as long as you both shall live.

______and ______, we all hope you never have reason to open the box before your 5th (or 10th) anniversary. Remember it was love that brought you here today, it is only love which can make it a glorious union, and it is by love which your marriage shall endure. You may now seal the box.
